For North Florida families, here’s a great little blog about interesting things to do within a few hours of Jacksonville. Another cool place to go, not mentioned in the article, is Olustee State Park, which is the site of the Battle of Olustee, and an annual re-enactment ever February on President’s Day weekend.
Fernandina Beach is also an interesting historical town, and along with Jekyll Island, Amelia Island, and St. Mary’s, Georgia, forms an interesting day trip. You can take a ferry from Fernandina Beach across the sound to St. Mary’s.
