Bright Ideas STEM from Today’s Youth Competition
Do you have a Bright Idea for solving a problem? Does your Bright Idea approach a familiar problem in a fresh, imaginative new way? Can your Bright Idea make the world a better place?
Bright House Networks is committed to helping today’s youth develop into innovative entrepreneurs who can help change the world! We’re also fostering leadership experiences for our youth so they can help build local economies and create emerging technologies too!
By entering the Bright Ideas STEM from Today’s Youth competition, high school students will vie for the opportunity to compete head-to-head on TV, in front of a studio audience in Orlando, Florida, where an expert panel of judges will select one grand prize winner. The BIG winner will have the chance to work with a leading innovation firm – which could help this student’s (or team of students) dream or idea potentially be realized and fulfilled!
So students, get ready to innovate! YOUR Bright Idea can make a difference and possibly change the world!

Enter your Bright Idea on the Bright House Bright Ideas website until January 4, 2016.
Here’s a quick checklist of what you’ll need to ready your entry:
- I have read the competition rules.
- I have developed my Bright Idea that’s powered by STEM, and it’s super cool!
- I’m at least 14 years old and attending a public, private, or parochial high school, or I am homeschooled.
- I have talked to my parents and have their consent if I’m younger than 18 at the time of entry.
- I have written my two essays that describe 1) how my idea, powered by STEM, makes the world a better place and 2) how STEM will power my idea to make it work.
- I have produced either a video or drawing that shows how cool my idea is.
Bright House picks up to six finalists, one from each of our six service areas throughout the country. These students will travel to Orlando, Florida, where they will compete head-to-head on TV, in front of a studio audience. An expert panel of judges will select one winner. The BIG winner will have the chance to work with a leading innovation firm – which could help this student’s (or team of students’) dream or idea potentially be realized and fulfilled!
Two weeks after the finals, the contest winner(s) will begin working with the leading innovation firm. During the next three months, the firm will develop a virtual prototype and business plan and present the winner with:
- A 10-page pitch presentation
- A video/virtual prototype/rendering
- A roadmap with next 3-4 steps
- A list of potential partners (with one or more introductions)
The project will be conducted at the innovation firm’s office. Bright House Networks will send the Grand Prize Winner(s), along with one adult, to meet twice with the firm during the three-month period.
