Annual Evaluations in Florida Schools
Should teachers be evaluated by the test scores of their students? Should teachers’ pay, raises, and/or bonuses be determined by the test scores of their students?
I am witnessing more and more of the public classroom teachers encouraging the students to look on their classmates’ papers for the answers. The teachers practically tell the “slower, lacking, lower achieving” students, who the “smarter” students are that know the correct answers, and are getting good scores on their work.
Yes, it is hard to believe, yet you must know that turning your head, or ignoring students that are copying other students’ papers, IS encouraging them to cheat! Advocating through complacency is encouraging the negative behavior that is being ignored. It is becoming obvious that the teachers are not going to do anything about cheating, especially if their students’ scores are going up.
