I thank you all sooo much for your feedback, even your correcting me on my spelling in these posts and information articles. I Love learning and I do desire correction. I am far from perfect. I do write many articles/blog posts laaaaate at night, without proofing before publishing, after a day of hearing of horrible school events, and wonderful homeschooling achievements, challenges, and triumphs throughout the day. Thank you for your help. I can feel the Love and/or the concern. I am learning sooo much everyday. haleluYaH!

With our diligence in communicating and networking we can keep the “ball rolling” on helping to improve the homeschooling communities and resources for us all. We really need to encourage and support each other with, and however we can. There is still a lot of misinformation out there about homeschooling and some counties, at least county employees, seem to think they can just change, or make, rules because they think they know better. We are finding that some counties are asking for things from homeschooling parents that are simply not required, thus probably not legal to ask for. We must be vililant (did I spell that correctly?) with paying attention and sharing with eachother, while holding county and state education personnel accountable to the laws.

Home education is much better than public school, and even many private school’s education. For many reasons.

The first and foremost is that these are OUR children, and their best interest and well-being is our main concern, no one elses. Let’s not fool ourselves with our overoptimism.

Secondly, they grow up way too fast, and we want to spend as much time with them as possible, and this is Good and Right.

Thirdly, we don’t want the socialization that most children get at the schools with little inspiration and no descipline of any kind, shuffled around with a bunch of unmotivated, undisciplined brats! And it is NOT neccessarily the children’s fault. How do we expect them to act, being trained by the school “system” and personnel that they need pills to focus, and that making a mistake means they are stupid, for the most part. Of course I am speaking in general terms here, as an eye witness.

I was a classroom teacher for 11 years, not perfect, but very motivating, disciplined and consistant. There are many good teachers out there oin the schools. Okay, I am always honest. There are a few good teachers out there in the schools. But, it is the system that is forcing the teachers to be “glorified babysitters,” and not very good ones. Or, the system has, and is, driving the Real Teachers out, with their mounds of meaningless paper work, “outcomed based education” practises, and testing, testing and more testing, while they attract “baby sitters” to the profession.

When I started my studies in formal education at the university level, the “buz” was “teaching to the test” was stupid and very counter productive. Now? That is ALL they do! ?? TEACH TO THE TEST!!! What is going on here? Teaching how to CHEAT?
