Things to Do at Green Cay in January

Green Cay Nature Center is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located at 12800 Hagen Ranch Road, west of Boynton Beach. Visit our website for more activities. All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated.  Please call (561) 966-7000 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only.  All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.

BOARDWALK TOURS
Every Saturday at 9 am & 11am and Wednesday at 3 pm
All ages – free (reservations not required)
Join one of our docents for a guided tour of our wetlands.

BIRDS AND BREAKFAST
Saturday, January 5 at 9 am (reservations required)
Ages 9 and up – $3 per person
Come start your day with us and enjoy coffee and refreshments before embarking on a one-hour birding tour with one of our naturalists.

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: Raw Foods Diet: Truths and Myths
Wednesday, January 16 at 1 pm (reservations required)
Adults 50 and older – $5 per person
Have you heard about the raw food diet? Are you interested in learning about it? University of Florida Palm Beach County Extension agent Ada Medina-Solorzano will discuss the facts and fallacies of this increasingly popular new life-style diet.

CAMOUFLAGE
Saturday, January 19 at 1 pm (reservations required)
All ages – $3 per person (4 & under free)
Now you see it, now you don’t. Come learn about different types of camouflage and why it’s important. Also meet some animals that can be hard to find.

STORY & CRAFT TIME
Saturday, January 26 at 10 am (reservations required)
Ages 3 to 6 – $2 per child
Kids will discover nature through crafts and stories about animals and other nature-related themes.

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: Neotropic Birding
Wednesday, January 30 at 1 pm (reservations required)
Adults 50 and older – $5 per person

Ever wondered about bird watching in the neotropics?  This class will make your next trip to the area even better by helping you with bird identification tricks and what to bring for that tropical destination.  Book recommendations and the best optics will be covered.
