St. Augustine Lighthouse Showcases Maritime & Military History this Weekend

Cannons, Muskets & Ghosts — OH MY!

The St. Augustine Ligthhouse & Museum is showcasing the maritime, military and haunted history of the light station with a two-day event.

Start with an archaeologist-led Lost Ships Tour on Friday that takes you through the last four years of excavation and research our LAMP divers have conducted on a shipwreck just off the St. Augustine coast.

Visit Saturday for a jam-packed day of guest speakers and demonstrations. Brian Rayca, munitions expert for the West Point Museum will be discussing some of the weapons recovered by our archaeology team. Lampist Joe Cocking will answer questions about his restoration of our 1st order Fresnel Lens — a restoration that had never been attempted before Joe took it on in the early 90’s.

Learn about the paranormal history of the St. Augustine Lighthouse with Matt Hladik, our Dark of the Moon tour guide and get hands-on with traditional wooden boatbuilding alongside our volunteer craftsman.

I am a Florida Certified Teacher and am licensed to do evaluations in all 67 counties in Florida. I hold a Master in Fine Arts degree in English – Creative Writing from the University of Florida. In addition to educating my own children, I’ve taught at the university, high school, middle school, and elementary levels. Other services I offer include one-on-one consulting via Zoom and by phone and high school transcript services. You can learn more about that by visiting my other website, www.HomeschoolTranscriptsFL.com Please let me know if you have any questions about evaluations or any other aspect of homeschooling in Florida. I am an expert in high school course planning, dual enrollment, college admissions, college admission essays, and Bright Futures. Most of all, I am your ally.
